Ressources and expertises

UCEIV labs has a very diverse analytical platform combining organic and inorganic matrices characterization techniques.

SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) :

RMN

Avance III NMR spectrometer type NanoBay coupled with Topspin 3.1 software: the value of the magnetic field of the superconducting coil is equivalent to 9.4 T, a 400 MHz proton resonance frequency. It is provided with a BBFO More SmartProbe measuring probe allowing as much as mirrored the direct detection for a wide range of cores (1H, 2D, 13C, 15N, 19F, 31P, …) in liquids. The main application areas are:

  • Qualitative and quantitative determination of the chemical structures of organic compounds in the liquid state, in 1D and 2D.
  • chemical synthesis control, purities, followed by chemical reactions.
  • Study of the molecular dynamics (T1 relaxation time, diffusion coefficient D) and supramolecular interactions.

Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) :

RPE

Bruker EMX EPR spectrometer type with double cavity functions either frequency ~ 9.5 GHz (X band), or frequency of 32GHz ~ (Q band). The magnetic field is modulated to the 100 kHz frequency. The spectra can be recorded at room temperature (25 ° C), liquid nitrogen (-196 ° C), liquid helium (-269 ° C) and the variable temperature of -196 ° C to 300 ° C. The Bruker‘s SYMFONIA and WINERP softwares are used for simulation of EPR spectra and for estimating the concentration of the paramagnetic species (organic and inorganic radicals, coordination complexes, transition metals and rare earths, metallic conductors conduction electrons, defects radiation and defects in semiconductors, marking technique and trapping).

X-ray Diffraction (XRD) :

DRX

The diffractometer X-ray (XRD) D8 Advance Bruker AXS brand is equipped with a measuring chamber with variable temperature (from room temperature to 900 ° C). This material analysis technique enables the detection of crystalline phases in solids.

SEC

Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) : Polymer Laboratories Varian PL-GPC-50 Plus

SEC is the analysis of polymers in water and aqueous solvents such as buffer solutions. It is the only established method for determining the distribution of the molecular weight of a polymer.

It has aquagel column PL-OH 20, 30 and 40.

Ligne de séparation

Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) : Microcal ITC200

ITC

  • Heat measurements during commissioning in the presence of the host and the guest
  • Other applications of any phenomenon of molecular recognition (protein-protein, proteinsubstrate, metal complexation ), micellization, aggregation

Carbone Organic Total Analyser (TOC) : TOC-VCSN Shimadzu

Using the oxidation method by catalytic combustion at 680 ° C for TOC measurements in drinking water, surface, underground, rejection or sea water Two types of possible combustion tube models.:

  • Normal pattern pen with detection limit of the order of ppm.
  • High sensitivity foam model with detection limit of ppb. enabling a wide range of applications up to ultrapure water.
